Paying It Forward In the Mountains -Asheville is more that just a place. It will change your life.

I am grateful for Carolina Mountain Rentals.
It was born out of a simple need for a fun vacation near the Biltmore Estate. My searching, eleven years ago to find a place to stay, which seemed harder than it should be soon turned into a service of love and kindness, which is now called Carolina Mountain Rentals. Now with the intention to pass on the business to the next person, the process is again being executed from that core honorable place called the heart as a “pay it forward”.

It all started in 1998, when after hearing that Asheville was a unique beautiful place in the mountains; I thought it might be a wonderful spot for a family vacation. I remember the feeling of it being a logistical struggle to find the perfect accommodation. My statement was, “there has got to be a better way”. From that need sprung the birth of an entire Vacation Rental Business now called Carolina Mountain Rentals.

I remember, like magic, from the purchase of the first house, over a period of six months, everything fell into place. Carolina Mountain Rentals soon became the first Internet driven business of its kind in the Biltmore Estate area with properties only fifteen minutes away from downtown Asheville. The locations appeared one after another combining to result in a beautiful experience. Soon I owned three perfect properties The Tupper House, or “the fairy cottage”, The Black Mountain Chalet, or home of the silver wolf, or The Blue Ridge Chalet, energetically a native healing ground where magic happens. All three locations had a specific one-of-a-kind message.
Their success sparked a lot of attention. This changed the way properties were rented for the whole area. Other cabin owners soon followed suit by using the Internet to reach out.
Everyone benefited from the birth of Carolina Mountain Rentals.

It was clear to me by listening to people on the other end of the telephone and reading the notes that people left at the cottage and chalets, that my homes attracted people to the Asheville area who needed that special something, a spark of change, or a healing experience. The visit would change the person’s life forever as it did for me. Whether it was a new way of thinking, a long awaited shift of energy, or just simply a desire to move to the mountains, every person got what they needed. Change, Change, Change, the momentum was underway for all involved. Visitor after visitor would write a special note in our guest books that would confirm that these unique locations were providing a valuable service.

Black Mountain where the cottage and chalets are physically located is the immeasurable added bonus. It is a little quaint town comprised of antique shops, crafts, art, and music and much more. Close but not too close to downtown Asheville, the locations do not loose the charm that the mountains have to offer. Grandma seeing the grand kids for the first time can all stay together to experience quality family time. Traveling couples remark that they are reminded of their child hood when they would go with the mom and dad to the mountains. You know, those precious times that are priceless.

Without interruption in the flow of visitors, I feel it is now time to pass the torch on to the next person. I believe, as the indigenous cultures believe, that you never really own the land, you just hold it and care for it for a period of time. I am waiting patiently and with much gratitude for the next owner to show up. The business has a substantial monetary value, so the decision to give it away rather than sell it comes from the heart. It is my intention that this decision will inspire a positive change in the WNC real estate industry. My realtor has been instructed to add no additional price tag for the business over the cost each property, as I have chosen to “pay it forward”. For those that don’t know what that phrase means, here is the definition. You give something unconditionally with love to someone and that promotes a chain reaction of kindness. That person then does something kind for someone else and so on. The world change that takes place benefits all.
